12 Tourist Destinations in J&K Reopen After Post-Pahalgam Curbs

Kashmir tourism has received a fresh boost as the administration has announced the reopening of 12 tourist destinations across Jammu and Kashmir. These spots were closed following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, but after a detailed security review, the government has given the green signal for travelers to visit again.

Why Were These Tourist Places Closed?

On April 22, a tragic terror attack in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam resulted in the death of 26 people, including 25 tourists. As a precaution, nearly 50 destinations were temporarily closed to ensure visitor safety.

In June, 16 locations were reopened, and now another 12 have been added back for tourists to explore from September 29, 2025.
