Kashmir Tour Packages in September 2026 – Weather, Places & Packages | Kashmir Tickets

Why September Is Kashmir's Best Month (That Nobody Talks About)

Every tourist knows about Kashmir in May–June (school holidays, peak season, everything open). Everyone knows about October (Chinar season, autumn colours, Durga Puja). What fewer people know is that September combines the best of both — without the crowds of either.

All the summer activities are still fully available: Gulmarg Gondola Phase 1 and Phase 2, river rafting on the Lidder, trekking, horse riding, paragliding. The weather has cooled from August's occasional humidity to a crisp, clear 18–26°C that makes sightseeing genuinely comfortable all day. The famous Himalayan post-monsoon clarity means mountain views are at their sharpest.

And at the end of September, the earliest Chinar trees begin turning gold — a preview of October's famous display, without October's crowd spike during Puja and Diwali holidays.

  • All destinations and activities open
  • Comfortable 18–26°C — ideal for all-day sightseeing
  • Post-monsoon clarity — sharpest mountain views of the year
  • 30–40% fewer tourists than June–August
  • 10–15% lower package prices than peak season
  • First Chinar colour by late September

Srinagar valley: 20–26°C days, 12–16°C nights. Gulmarg: 12–18°C (jacket essential). Pahalgam: 15–22°C. Sonamarg: 8–14°C. Generally drier than August with clear skies. First light snowfall possible on Apharwat (Gulmarg) in late September — adds to the drama without closing the Gondola.
